  1.  History of establishment and development of Kim Anh Tea Joint Stock Company

Kim Anh Tea Factory was established in 1958 in Viet Tri, Vinh Phuc (now Phu Tho province) specializing in the production of green tea for export and tea for domestic consumption. After 1976, due to the industry’s centralized production requirements, Kim Anh Tea Factory moved to Mai Dinh Commune, Soc Son, Hanoi. Vinh Long Tea Factory was established in 1959 in Hanoi specializing in the production of flavored tea for domestic consumption. During the war years, the factory had to evacuate to Vinh Long, Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc.

On May 15, 1980, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry decided to merge Kim Anh Tea Factory and Vinh Long Tea Factory into Kim Anh Export Tea Factory, headquartered in Mai Dinh Commune – Soc Son District – Hanoi. During this period, the factory encountered many difficulties such as moving the headquarters and restructuring the organization. Despite many difficulties, with the help of the Tea Union, the factory’s staff gradually overcame the initial difficulties and entered stable production. The production scale was increasingly expanded, tea output increased along with the expanded consumption market, especially in the export sector to markets in the former Soviet Union and Eastern European socialist countries. During this period, the factory received many certificates of merit and medals of all kinds. In February 1990, Kim Anh Export Tea Factory was renamed Kim Anh Tea Factory. Also during this time, our country’s economy was in the transition period from a subsidized mechanism to a market mechanism. Still unfamiliar with the new mechanism, while the consumption market was narrowed, especially in the export sector when the Soviet Union (formerly) and the Eastern European socialist countries collapsed, the factory encountered many difficulties in production, consumption, and management. However, thanks to rapid technological improvements, understanding market changes, product diversification, and the efforts of each staff member, the factory overcame difficulties and gradually reasserted its position. The name “factory” only refers to production and processing, while the factory both processes and exports and consumes outside. Therefore, on February 18, 1995, Kim Anh tea factory was renamed Kim Anh Tea Company under the Vietnam Tea Corporation. From 1995 to 1999, the company made significant progress. The brand “Kim Anh tea” has become familiar to domestic and foreign customers. The company’s consumption market has also expanded to many countries such as Hong Kong, Canada, and Eastern Europe. The company has also constantly diversified its product designs and grasped new technologies to put into production to increase product quality. Every year, the amount of exported tea accounts for 60% of the company’s total revenue and the company has also increasingly expanded its scale.

By 1999, the government had a policy to reorganize state-owned enterprises in key sectors and fields with the aim of increasing the efficiency of the state economy and at the same time with the aim of increasing the growth of the national economy in general. Kim Anh Tea Company was also one of the first companies in the tea industry to be selected for equitization, leading the Party and State’s policy mentioned above. After 6 months of preparation, on July 3, 1999, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Decision No. 99/QDBNN-TCCB officially converting Kim Anh Tea Company into Kim Anh Tea Joint Stock Company. This is a major turning point in the formation and development of the company, marking a new development step for the company in line with the development of the new mechanism – the market mechanism. To promote product consumption, the company has invested in improving the production technology line, the company has:

– 1 black tea processing factory with a synchronous, advanced equipment line imported from India, ready to supply with an output of 600 tons/year.

– 1 green tea processing factory with advanced technology and equipment from Taiwan – China, ready to supply with an output of 800 tons/year.

Both of the above tea factories are located in the famous Thai Nguyen specialty tea raw material area of Vietnam for its high quality and unique origin. In addition, to serve the domestic market and domestic consumer psychology, the company also has a processing workshop (at the company headquarters) with the task of refining and producing scented tea from fresh flowers and herbal scents. In particular, there are two synchronous and advanced equipment systems of IMA – Italy, the most modern tea bag packaging system in Vietnam, ready to supply with an output of 1,200 tons/year. The company has a team of skilled and leading technical workers in the tea industry in the production of scented tea. Not only that, the company also has the largest domestic tea distribution and marketing channel system. The brand “Kim Anh Tea” has been famous and has a long-standing reputation in the domestic and foreign consumption markets.
